Bill Hader has signed an exclusive development deal with HBO to create and star in a new series for the cable network. No plot details have been released at this point.

The comedian is best known for his eight-season run on NBC's Saturday Night Live from 2005 to 2013, where he created memorable characters such as Stefon, a trendy New York club expert, and Italian talk show host Vinny Vedechi. He won two Emmy Awards for his work on the show, and also picked up another shared Emmy win for his writing on the Comedy Central animated series South Park.

On the big screen, Bill Hader voiced Flint Lockwood in the popular animated movies Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and last year's sequel Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. On the live-action side, the actor has starred in hits such as Superbad, Tropic Thunder, Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, Paul and The to Do List. He recently signed on to star in the upcoming comedy Trainwreck, and he will also voice roles in Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur.

No production schedule was given for the HBO series.
