Less than one month after debuting on Netflix, the streaming service has announced that Big Mouth has been renewed for a second season. The 10-episode season was announced through a new video which revealed the second season will arrive on Netflix in 2018, although a specific premiere date was not yet given. The streaming service also released a second video today for this Netflix original series, that sheds some light on the longtime friendship between series creators Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg.

The trailer features the main character, Andrew Glouberman, opening the pages of a magazine, which reveals that "Netflix Announces Season 2 for 2018," along with a fake quote that claims this Big Mouth is, "literally our best show ever," from, "the legit actual CEO of Netflix. For realsies." The brief video also features an appearance from the Hormone Monstress, voiced by Maya Rudolph, who will certainly be back in the second season, along with her male counterpart the Hormone Monster, voiced by Nick Kroll. But before the new season gets started, the Netflix animated series wants fans to see how Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg became best friends as kids.

The second video is narrated by main voice actor John Mulaney, who takes fans through several childhood photos of Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg, while revealing that Nick's older brother called them the "Asshole Buddies." The video goes on to reveal that these best friends loved the New York Mets, cracking each other up and, "apparently, boob hats," as evidenced in a bizarre photo. The video even includes footage of the first time they performed comedy together, but their lives went in different directions. Nick Kroll would star in FX's The League before getting his own comedy series, Kroll Show on Comedy Central, while Andrew went on to become a comedy writer for Fox's Family Guy.

The second video ends with photos of Nick Kroll being the best man at Andrew Goldberg's wedding, with narrator John Mulaney adding that it wasn't quite the same as when they were "Asshole buddies," which is where Netflix comes in, giving this comedy duo their own series. Nick Kroll himself voices several characters, including the main character Nick Birch, but since Andrew isn't an actor, they hired John Mulaney to voice this fictional, animated version of Andrew Goldberg, named Andrew Glouberman on the series.

Big Mouth is a 10-episode, half-hour edgy adult animated comedy from real-life best friends Nick Kroll (Kroll Show, The League) and Andrew Goldberg (Family Guy) about the glorious nightmare that is teenaged puberty. Comedian John Mulaney lends his voice to the character of Andrew, while Kroll (who serves as co-creator, executive producer) voices many including best friend Nick. Maya Rudolph, Jason Mantzoukas, Jordan Peele, Fred Armisen, Jenny Slate (who also appears on Netflix's Lady Dynamite) and Jessi Klein are among those who lend their voice to the series. Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg and screenwriter-directors Mark Levin & Jennifer Flackett are all creators and executive producers on the series. Big Mouth is a Netflix production.
