Netflix is officially getting in on the aftershow game, and they're probably doing it at the perfect time. To coincide with the release of Stranger Things season 2, the streaming service has announced that the beloved sci-fi series is getting a recap series, officially titled Beyond Stranger Things. The first season will run for seven episodes and, just like every other Netflix show, every episode will be made available On October 27, the same day that Stranger Things season 2 drops.

Beyond Stranger Things gives the highly-anticipated second season of Netflix's beloved sci-fi an aftershow experience for fans to enjoy. The series is hosted by writer, producer, actor and super fan Jim Rash (Community). Beyond Stranger Things tackles inspiration for the series, behind-the-scenes stories, and analyzes every aspect of the second season, answering all the burning questions fans are sure to have after watching the new batch of episodes. Though, this aftershow is going to be a little different than what superfans may be accustomed to.

Most aftershows, like AMC's Talking Dead, are meant to be viewed immediately after each episode of its respective parent series. However, in the case of Beyond Stranger Things, fans should not watch a single episode of it until they've finished Stranger Things season 2. Netflix will automatically play Beyond Stranger Things after viewers have completed the second season of the show. So this is really more of a companion series that takes the aftershow concept, but applies it to the habits of those who binge watch shows. So you won't have to pause your Stranger Things binge in order to enjoy the Stranger Things aftershow. It'll just help give you something more to enjoy after the season is over.

The series features tons of guest stars over the course of the seven-episode run. Stranger Things creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer, executive producer Shawn Levy will all appear. In addition, cast members Sean Astin, Linnea Berthelsen, Millie Bobby Brown, Natalia Dyer, Brett Gelman, David Harbour, Randy Havens, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Dacre Montgomery, Paul Reiser, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, and Finn Wolfhard will all appear. Plus, the series will have some special guests along the way. Beyond Stranger Things is being billed as a Netflix original series and is the streaming giant's first foray into aftershows.

AMC has led the way with aftershows, with host Chris Hardwick leading Talking Dead, Talking Bad and Talking Saul for the network. HBO has also had success with After the Thrones. Considering the success of Stranger Things, it makes perfect sense for Netflix to give fans something more to watch. It will also help them further capitalize on the popularity. The series will heavily incorporate fans, as the opening visuals were created by Stranger Things fan, graphic artist Wahyu "Pinot" Ichwandardi, and the opening theme music is a remix composed by another superfan, Daniel Rosenfeld.
