Ben Stiller is teaming up with writer Helen Childress for a TV version of their 1994 cult classic comedy Reality Bites for NBC.

Helen Childress, who wrote the original Reality Bites screenplay, is writing the pilot episode that centers on recent college graduate Lelaina Pierce, the character portrayed by Winona Ryder in the movie, and her struggles in early 1990s Houston. Lelaina will capture the lives of herself and her slacker roommates with a video camera.

Ben Stiller and Helen Childress are executive producing the series along with Michael Shamberg, Stacey Sher, Stuart Cornfeld and Deborah Liebling.

It isn't known if Ben Stiller plans on directing the pilot episode, or if any Reality Bites cast members will sign on for different roles.
