The CW has released a new Batwoman teaser for San Diego Comic-Con. Star Ruby Rose had to pull out of the panel due to scheduling conflicts stemming from shooting an episode of the show. The actress released a video on social media apologizing for her absence noting that they were in the middle of shooting an "ambitious episode." While Rose wasn't able to come down to the annual event and promote it, the network has fans covered with a brand-new teaser.
The Batwoman teaser released by the network and delivered straight from the halls of Comic-Con does not get into the specifics of the upcoming ArrowVerse series. Instead, it's a playful indication of how popular the series could be come when it finally airs this fall. The footage revolves around a tattoo shop and different people coming in to get some ink. The artist is surprised by the initial request and again when the design keeps coming up. The design in question is obviously the Batwoman logo and Ruby Rose even makes an appearance.
The teaser for the Batwoman series is a bit on the campy side, but that's the vibe the network decided to go for promoting it at Comic-Con. They also screened the pilot episode, which pleased many fans and seems to have alienated others. The CW is really going for the diversity angle and pushing it hard for their upcoming series, which features Ruby Rose as a Kate Kane, the first LGBTQ superhero character to headline a series. Pilots are never a true representation of a show and it may take the Batwoman series some time to find its footing.
Batwoman is set to premiere October 6th, exclusively on The CW. The series follows Ruby Rose's Kate Kane as she takes over responsibility for Gotham City since her cousin, Bruce Wayne isn't around. Showrunner Caroline Dries recently praised Rose and what she brings to the table for the upcoming series. From Dries' opinion, Rose is the best woman for the job. She had this to say.
"She's everything that I wish I could be, that I had the guts to be. She's a really courageous, no bullsh*t badass who knows herself very well and is not afraid of sharing that with the world."
The CW's upcoming series is based on the characters from DC. Batwoman is from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television with executive producers Greg Berlanti, Caroline Dries, Geoff Johns, and Sarah Schechter. David Nutter and Marcos Siega executive produced the pilot. While the teaser isn't going to gain any new fans, it is an indication of the early vibe of the show and shows how confident Ruby Rose is as Kate Kane.
