Warner Bros. recently announced that Batman: The Animated Series is making its way to Blu-ray with a massive box set that will include remastered versions of every single episode, in addition to a host of bonus features. Now, we have word that the release has been bumped back by two weeks. However,Amazon has decided to drop the price and, to tease what's coming our way this fall, Warner Bros. released the remastered version of the show's opening title sequence, which looks absolutely stunning.

First off, the Batman box set was originally supposed to be released on October 16. That has now been pushed to October 30. That's not a terribly big deal, though it's easy to imagine some hardcore Batman fans are feeling a bit impatient already. The big news, for those who haven't already ordered a copy yet, is that the Batman: The Animated Series Blu-ray set is now going for $87.39 on Amazon and can be pre-ordered now. Its original retail price was $112.99, so that represents a significant discount. Those who have already pre-ordered the set will be refunded the difference. One very important item of note is that only 30,000 copies of this set are going to be produced. So if you want to get your hands on one before they wind up on eBay for astronomical asking prices, don't wait around.

Another important announcement from Warner Bros. is that the box set will also come with digital copies of the episodes, which is significant. If you're not already sold on the idea of picking up the series on Blu-ray, the newly released title sequence may be enough to do the trick. It's not as though the series looked bad as was, but these remastered credits showcase just how great these episodes are going to look.

The impressive Batman: The Complete Animated Series Deluxe Limited Edition package features approximately 2,700 minutes, or roughly 45 hours, of content across ten Blu-ray discs, and plus the two bonus discs. And that's not counting 11 specially-selected episodes with audio commentaries by cast and crew. In addition, the Batman: The Animated Series box set includes some exclusive collectibles, including three Funko mini-figurines; Batman, Joker and Harley Quinn, as well as seven lenticular art cards. The entire box set is housed in a layflat-book with a stylish slipcase.

Between Kevin Conroy's portrayal as the Caped Crusader, Mark Hamill's incredible Joker and the amazing depiction of Gotham City, to go along with some incredibly faithful storytelling, this is the definitive Batman adaptation for a great many DC fans and, quite arguably, the greatest animated comic book TV series ever. You can head on over to Amazon right now to pre-order the set for yourself. Be sure to check out the remastered version of the Batman: The Animated Series opening title sequence from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
