It's not a Guns N' Roses song, but it's definitely Axl Rose singing. Boomerang's New Looney Tunes series has released a video for the song "Rock the Rock," which features Rose's first recorded vocal release since 2008's Chinese Democracy. The iconic singer is fronting a band with Bugs Bunny on lead guitar duties, taking over for Slash. Guns N' Roses fans have been waiting to hear some new music from Rose for what seems like forever, so this is a bit of a head scratcher.

Axl Rose has been a Looney Tunes fan for a number of years. Guns N' Roses' never ending Not In This Lifetime reunion tour starts with the Looney Tunes theme song every night and the singer has sported a number of t-shirts featuring the famous cartoon characters over the years. But, this is a whole new kind of collaboration. Rob Janas and Joshua Funk from the New Looney Tunes wrote the two-minute song, and it was first heard on last month's Armageddon Outta Here, Part Two.

When the episode of New Looney Tunes debuted late last year, there were rumors that it was Axl Rose on lead vocals, but it was so out there, nobody believed it at the time. However, it's all true. Rose took a break from touring with Guns N' Roses and AC/DC to record the quick song that even mentions the classic Use Your Illusion diss track "Get in the Ring." The cartoon version of Rose does his trademark serpentine dance while Porky Pig does the duck walk, which was made famous by rock and roll godfather Chuck Berry.

"Rock the Rock" features some of Axl Rose's trademark vocal stylings. There's a lot going on, but the main voice is a lower register Rose with a slightly higher version on top. Not quite "Welcome to the Jungle" high, but more like "It's So Easy" from Appetite or "The Garden" from Use Your Illusion I. It's pretty mind-blowing to listen to, especially since Rose is notorious for being a recluse and a control freak in the recording studio. It's refreshing to hear the legendary vocalist doing something for fun, which is clear from his performance.

2019 is already off to a good start with Axl Rose recording some new music. Let's hope that this experience leaks into the Guns N' Roses camp. There have been whispers for the last three years that the reunited band is working on some new material, with Slash admitting that Rose has some new material. However, when it comes to GNR, fans know not to hold their breath.

If you've ever wanted to see Axl Rose front a band with Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig, you're in luck because you can watch the video below, thanks to the Boomerang Official YouTube channel. And to reiterate, yes, this is very much real.
