Ashley Williams has seen his fair share of nasty ghouls and dirty demons over the course of three movies and the first season of his own TV show. But the new villain about to be introduced in Ash Vs. Evil Dead really takes the preverbal cake. This guy is a little different than anything Ash has had to square off with before. And this diabolic demon might just be his most powerful foe yet.
Meet Baal, who has been introduced via a new photo from Entertainment Weekly. The nasty beast has taken human form, and proves to be quite powerful, and quite able to resist the alluring charms of Ash's Chainsaw hand. This new character is played by Joel Tobeck. You may remember the character actor from such iconic TV shows and movies as Sons of Anarchy and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
Baal arrives from the Underworld, as most demons do. He has a secret link to Lucy Lawless' Ruby, one that won't be revealed until much later in Season 2. These all new episodes are set to be unleashed starting October 2nd at 8pm. At this point, there isn't much more that we know about the dastardly Baal. But we're sure all will be unveiled as the new season unfolds.
Executive producers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell and Ivan Raimi return for the highly anticipated 10-episode second season of the half-hour series Ash Vs. Evil Dead alongside Craig DiGregorio who serves as executive producer and showrunner. The second season roars back into action with Ash leaving his beloved Jacksonville and returning to his hometown of Elk Grove. There, he confronts Ruby. The former enemies have to form an uneasy alliance as Elk Grove soon becomes the nucleus of evil.
The cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Burn Notice) in the role of Ash Williams and Lucy Lawless (Salem, Spartacus) as Ruby, who now possesses the powerful Necronomicon. Also starring is Ray Santiago (Touch, Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, Ash's loyal sidekick dealing with the trauma he suffered in the cabin, and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, who, grief-stricken after the death of her parents, plots revenge against The Evil Dead. There will also be a number of new characters introduced in Season 2.
As previously announced, Lee Majors, Ted Raimi and Michelle Hurd join the cast this season as Brock Williams, Ash's father, Chet Kaminski, Ash's childhood best friend, and Linda, Ash's high school love respectively. The full first season of Ash vs Evil Dead can be viewed now on the Starz App on Chromecast, Apple TV (4th generation and newer), iPhones and iPads running iOS 7.0 or higher, Google Nexus Player, Sony Android TV, as well as most Android phones, tablets, and TV devices. Starz renewed the series for Season 2, just days before the season premiere back in October. Take a look at Joel Tobeck as Baal as he confronts Lucy Lawless' Ruby.
