The CW has released a brutal new trailer for Arrow season 7 ahead of the show's return next week. The Arrowverse is back in full swing and next up, it's Oliver Queen who will return for what looks to be a very different type of season for longtime fans. The man himself is behind bars, but that doesn't mean crime is going to take a day off. Not by a long shot. There are several threats at the heart of this new trailer, including the Longbow Hunters, who we get our best look at so far.

DC fans are very much looking forward to seeing the Longbow Hunters in action next season, who are a group of highly-skilled baddies who aim to take down the Green Arrow. The group consists of Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo), Red Dart (Holly Elissa), Kodiak (Michael Jonsson), and Silencer (Miranda Edwards) who, as we see in the trailer, are formidable and very dangerous. But that's not the only interesting thing going on in the new footage.

This trailer hammers home the fact that Stephen Amell's Oliver will be locked up at the start of the season and, unfortunately, that's going to put him in the mix with some very unhappy company, given that he put many of these bad guys behind bars. Some of these bad guys include Michael Jai White as Bronze Tiger, Cody Runnels as Derek Sampson and Vinnie Jones as Danny "Brick" Brickwell. This results in some ugly cellblock brawls and what appears to be a dark turn for our hero. And then there's the matter of the new mysterious figure under the hood who is taking up the mantle in Oliver's absence. Who is this mystery figure? There is a lot to unpack heading into this new season.

Arrow is the show that kicked off the Arrowverse over on The CW and, by this point in any show's run, it runs the risk of jumping the shark. It remains to be seen if that's going to be the case here, but one has to wonder how much gas this series has in the tank. Then again, Supernatural has been on the air for nearly 14 years. So who knows? Maybe new showrunner Beth Schwartz can breathe some new life into the show and keep it on the tracks for a while longer before it starts to feel like it's overstaying its welcome.

In any event, Oliver will need to be safely out of prison and in fighting shape for this year's big Arrowverse crossover event, which is officially titled Elseworlds and will be bringing Ruby Rose's Batwoman into the fold. The three-night Arrowverse mega event is set for December. But before that happens, we've gotta watch the Arrow season 7 premiere, which is set for Monday, October 15.
