Spartacus star Cynthia Addai-Robinson has signed on to recur as Amanda Waller in Season 2 of Arrow. The news comes less than one week after our report that this villainous character will be included this year.
Amanda Waller is an agent of the clandestine agency Advanced Research Group United Support (A.R.G.U.S.), who possesses important information on Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell). The character also runs the Suicide Squad, which includes Deadshot (Michael Rowe) and Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White). Cynthia Addai-Robinson's recurring run will start in the sixth episode of Season 2, "Keep Your Enemies Closer".
In related news, Arrow producers are currently seeking an actor to play The Flash this season, with the character's first episode to begin shooting on September 30. Here's what producer Andrew Kreisberg had to say about the casting process.
"We'll have to have somebody by September 30, which is when we start shooting [his first] episode. So there is that timeline. But it's been a really exciting process just getting to meet so many fantastic actors and seeing the enthusiasm that so many people around town have for the character. It's just amazing. I have pictures of myself at age 4 holding a Flash and a Superman doll. That I'm sitting here writing the Flash and Green Arrow now, it's more than my little nerd heart can bear sometimes."
We reported in July that the CW is eyeing a Flash spin-off series, with the character to debut sometime during Season 2 of Arrow. The speedy character, a.k.a. Dr. Barry Allen, is slated to appear in three Season 2 episodes.
Other confirmed additions to the Season 2 cast include Kevin Alejandro as Sebastian Blood, Caity Lotz as Black Canary and Bex Taylor-Klaus as Sin.
