The Trailer Park Boys will return at the start of the new year with a new spinoff series, but don't expect to find it on Netflix. This week on SwearNet, the official internet home for the series, the team revealed with a "State of the Union" video that they'll soon be launching the official SwearNet app. They also announce that the app will stream the episodes featured in Trailer Park Boys: Jail, although it may feel a bit different in tone as it takes Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles out of the trailer park and putting them behind bars.

"It's a new season of Trailer Park Boys," Julian actor John Paul Tremblay says in the video. "It's going to be a bit different from the Sunnyvale kind of thing, because it's mostly taking place in jail."

He adds, "So, we're going to release it on our nice little fancy app that we're coming out on, so everybody f***ing download it when it comes out, please. Watch some new s***."

On the official Facebook page for Trailer Park Boys, the jail-set spinoff was further teased in a new post announcing the release date. The teaser doesn't show any footage, only revealing the title logo for the show, but a narrator speaks about what's to come as the show's theme song plays. "It's been peaceful and tranquil in the Sunnyvale trailer park lately, but that's because the boys aren't there. Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles are back... in jail," the narrator states, adding that Trailer Park Boys: Jail is coming to SwearNet on Jan 1.

An official Instagram page for Bubbles previously teased the jail-set Trailer Park Boys spinoff. In September 2019, the account posted an image of the wardrobe area from the set, revealing orange clothing for prisoners. It also revealed that filming was beginning on new episodes, although the post was rather vague. "Tomorrow morning. Filming begins," the caption stated, including the hashtag #SunnyvaleCorrectionalFacility.

The Jail spinoff isn't connected to the animated series version of Trailer Park Boys that premiered on Netflix in 2019, which serves as a spinoff of its own. The Netflix Original picks up directly after the events of the show's 12th season and imagines Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles in a cartoon version of Sunnyvale. It managed to spark enough interest from viewers to be granted a second season that premiered on Netflix earlier this year, but many longtime fans have still been eagerly awaiting more live-action episodes of Trailer Park Boys.

Trailer Park Boys: Jail will debut on SwearNet on Jan. 1. You can watch the show on the website along with the official app. A second Christmas special has also been announced, which will include footage of the late John Dunsworth from before his death in 2017. In the meantime, you can go back and binge all 12 seasons of the live-action Trailer Park Boys along with both seasons of the animated series version on Netflix. This news comes to us from SwearNet.
