The Nine Lives of Chloe King star Skyler Samuels has signed on for a recurring role in FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show.

The character is said to have a "pivotal role" this season, playing a local Jupiter, Florida resident who "finds herself in a tough situation." The series is set in 1952, following a travelling circus that arrives in town at the same time a dark power emerges, which threatens the lives of both the locals and the carnival freak show members. This season will also showcase how the freak show is struggling to survive in a dying carnival industry.

Series mainstay Jessica Lange is portraying German expatriate Elsa Mars, who runs the carnival, with Kathy Bates playing the bearded lady Effil Darling. Angela Bassett is portraying the three-breasted Desiree Dupree, Emma Roberts returns as con artist Maggie, Evan Peters plays Jimmy Darling, a man with lobster hands, and Sarah Paulson is set as Siamese twins Bette and Dot Tattler. New cast members include Michael Chiklis as strongman Wendell del Toredo, John Carroll Lynch as the main villain and Finn Wittrock. The show also cast 20-year-old Jyoti Amge, the world's smallest woman. Guest stars include Matthew Bomer and Patti LaBelle.

Skyler Samuels recently wrapped production on the big-screen adaptation The DUFF. American Horror Story: Freak Show debuts Wednesday, October 8 at 10 PM ET on FX.
