Macaulay Culkin has an "insane" role in American Horror Story season 10, according to series creator Ryan Murphy. Murphy also discussed how Culkin landed the part in AMC's long-running horror anthology series. The Home Alone actor hasn't had a significant role in some time, as he picks and chooses whatever he wants to do, which doesn't seem to be a whole lot of anything at the moment. However, AHS is bringing him back.

Ryan Murphy is a big fan of Macaulay Culkin. When asked about how his name came up for American Horror Story season 10, Murphy said, "You know, it came about just because it's how I always do things [Laughs.]" He went on to state, "I have always loved Macaulay Culkin's work. I loved everything that he's done... the sort of the older, more recent stuff that he did. And he hasn't worked in a while." But how did he convince Culkin to hop on board? Murphy explains.

"So, I have this very, very great insane part. And I asked to speak to him [Culkin] on the phone and he said OK. [When] I cast, I never let people read things, usually. I said, 'OK, here's the pitch.' And I told them the character and I told him he has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things. And he paused and he goes, 'This sounds like the role I was born to play.' So, he signed up right then and there."

Macaulay Culkin is always into getting weird and it sounds like American Horror Story season 10 is going to get quite weird. Obviously, Ryan Murphy was not able to go into detail about the storyline and Culkin has yet to reveal anything about his character publicly. For now, fans of the show and Culkin should be pretty intrigued with what Murphy has just teased.

As for when we'll see American Horror Story season 10, that's unclear. Ryan Murphy recently revealed that his current storyline could be in jeopardy, due to the world's current state of affairs. Regardless, he is excited to work with Macaulay Culkin and would like to continue to do more projects together if the actor is interested. Murphy had this to say about the current status of AHS and working with Culkin again.

"We're waiting for the crisis to be over because all those scripts are written and I'm excited for him to play that part. I'm excited for him to be in my world because I think... I'm gonna want to do a lot of things with him if he wants to work, because I think he's fascinating and interesting, and I think he has a soul. There's both a lightness and a darkness with Macaulay Culkin that I'm attracted to."

Ryan Murphy and American Horror Story may have cracked the Macaulay Culkin code to get him excited about acting again. While we're going to have to wait a little longer to see what Murphy is teasing with season 10, it sounds like it will be more than worth the wait.
