FX Canada revealed in a press release today that American Horror Story: Freak Show will debut on Wednesday, October 8 at 10 PM ET. While this date has not been confirmed as the U.S. premiere date yet, take a look at the American Horror Story: Freak Show excerpt from the press release below, which includes new information about new and returning characters.

American Horror Story (AHS) returns with an all-new gritty and gripping season, premiering Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT (check local listings). Season 4, Freak Show, is set in 1950s Juniper, FL, and centers around one of the last remaining freak shows of the time.

From bearded ladies to Siamese twins, Freak Show features some of the series' most familiar faces.

Emmy Award-winning actress Jessica Lange returns as Elsa Mars, Academy Award winner Kathy Bates plays Effil Darling, celebrated actress Angela Bassett is Desiree Dupree, Sarah Paulson will do double-duty as Siamese twins Bette and Dot Tattler, Evan Peters plays Jimmy Darling, and Emma Roberts is Maggie. Plus, AHS newcomer Michael Chiklis stars as Wendell Del Toredo, and joining the cast this season is John Carroll Lynch (Fargo), who will play a core villain.

While FX U.S. has yet to confirm the date, it does fall in line with its current scheduling. The Bridge, which currently airs in the Wednesday 10 PM time slot, is scheduled to end its Season 2 run on Wednesday, October 1, if the rest of the episodes continue to air on consecutive Wednesdays, making October 8 the most logical date for American Horror Story: Freak Show to premiere.

We also reported earlier this week that series creator Ryan Murphy has cast 20-year-old Jyoti Amge, who is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the shortest woman on Earth, standing just 2 feet 0.6 inches tall.
