Netflix has finally revealed the full-length trailer for Altered Carbon season 2. This has been in the works for some time and the streaming service previously revealed the release date last month, signaling that a trailer was imminent. Following the release of a brief teaser last week, we finally have a significant, and not to mention action-packed, look at the sophomore season of the hit sci-fi series. This time, we'll be following Avengers: Infinity War and Captain America: Civil War star Anthony Mackie as he embarks on an epic quest.

The trailer kicks off with some doom and gloom about the future before we see Takeshi Kovacs, this time played by Anthony Mackie awakening from his resleeving. He's been given some fancy upgrades, such as advanced healing that look rather useful in practice. We get a solid sense of the story at play here, with Takeshi searching for a long-lost love, which borders on obsession. This footage is violent, full of impressive visuals and overflowing with action. It appears Netflix pulled precisely zero punches for season 2.

One of the key, interesting elements heading into this season of the show is seeing Anthony Mackie outside the confines of the MCU. Audiences have largely come to know him as Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, and that will continue with projects like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+. But Mackie is a talented and in-demand actor who, one would assume, has a long career ahead of him. This will give viewers a chance to see what he can do in a big-budget setting, but one not anchored to the world of Marvel.

Altered Carbon Season 2 picks 30 years after the finale of the show's' first season. It centers on Takeshi Kovacs (Anthony Mackie), the lone surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors. He is resuming his centuries long journey to find his lost love, Quellcrist Falconer (Renee Elise Goldsberry). After decades of traversing the galaxy and searching, with no avail, Kovacs is recruited to come back to his home world with the promise of finding the one he desires. Kovacs is tasked with investigating a series of brutal murders and is shocked to find out that his new mission to solve the crime and find Quell will overlap.

The cast also includes Renee Elise Goldsberry (Waves), Lela Loren (Power), Simone Missick (Luke Cage), Chris Conner (Walk of Shame), Dina Shihabi (Jack Ryan), Torben Liebrecht (Operation Finale), Will Yun Lee (The Good Doctor) and James Saito (Always Be My Maybe). The series is based on the acclaimed series of novels by author Richard K. Morgan. Season 1 starred Joel Kinnaman (Suicide Squad) in the lead role. Altered Carbon season 2 is set to arrive on February 27 on the Netflix streaming service. The new season will consist of eight episodes. Be sure to check out the new trailer for yourself.
