Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D season 7 is said to be bringing back a fan-favorite character in the form of Agent Carter. The live-action Marvel series will be hanging it up after next year's batch of episodes and, apparently, ABC is going to send Coulsen and the gang out in style. While much of what we're set to experience in the show's final season remains largely mysterious, we can now expect to see Hayley Atwell making her welcome return to the MCU. But how exactly will she be utilized?
First, the details. According to a new report, Agent Carter will appear in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D season 7. No specific details were provided. When last we saw Peggy, she was getting that dance she had always wanted with Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) at the end of Avengers: Endgame. It's unlikely this business on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is going to disrupt that happy ending, given what happened in the season 6 finale.
Warning: massive spoilers ahead for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D season 6 finale. Read on at your own risk. The most recent episode of the series, which set the table for the final season, saw /marvel-agents-of-shield-season-7-series-ending/Agent Coulsen and the gang travel back in time to the 1930s. As it just so happens, it's entirely possible they could run into Peggy Carter around this time period. It's also possible they could time travel again and find themselves in the 40s during WWII with Peggy as well. Either way, the finale left the door wide open for just such an appearance.
Hayley Atwell made her debut as Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger. She has since appeared in several other MCU movies, in mostly minor roles, including The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man and Avengers: Age of Ultron. The character was popular enough to earn her own series, Agent Carter, which was tragically short-lived, running for just two seasons on ABC. Despite that, the fanbase and love for Peggy has remained very strong over the years.
It was confirmed just ahead of San Diego Comic-Con this year that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D season 7 would conclude the series. The cast and crew recently wrapped shooting the final episode, sharing heartfelt and emotional posts on social media to honor the occasion. While the show never quite took off in the way Marvel and ABC hoped it might, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has maintained a loyal fanbase and holds the important distinction of being the first live-action Marvel TV series of the MCU era. ABC has not yet set a premiere date for season 7, but the show is expected to return in 2020. This news comes to us via Fandom Wire.
