We have a brand new trailer for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which just recently debuted at San Diego Comic-Con. Historically speaking, the show hasn't been airing during SDCC, which means the event served as a preview of what was coming our way during the next season of the Marvel series. This time is different though, as we still have a few episodes left in season 6 and we're getting a glimpse at what Agent Coulson and the gang are going to be contending with as they race toward this year's finale and, more importantly, the series finale, as it was recently confirmed that next year's season 7 will be its last.

Season 6 kicked off in May, which is usually when the show is wrapping up for the year. Things got going with high stakes, as the group had to contend with an evil version of Coulson. While the scale of the series has certainly become much larger, especially when compared to the relatively humble inaugural season, fans don't seem to think it has jumped the shark, as they're still tuning in. These last few episodes of the season, however, are teeing up the final season and a whole lot is going to go down before we hit the season 6 finale as we see in this Comic-Con trailer.

ABC and Marvel renewed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a season 7 ahead of the season 6 premiere. The show has been on the bubble for a long time and, with that in mind, it's not super surprising that season 7 will be its last. Still, it's had one heck of a run, the longest for any live-action Marvel series to date. While Netflix gave the axe to their entire little corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which included Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has kept on trucking along and outlasted them all. That's no small feat, considering that Coulson and the gang rely on viewers to actually tune in. The future of Marvel TV will exist on Disney+, where shows like Loki and Falcon and Winter Soldier will live.

The series was co-created by Joss Whedon, who directed The Avengers, alongside Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. It serves as Marvel's first foray into live-action TV in the era of the MCU. While the show hasn't been as firmly connected to the MCU as some fans may have liked over the years, it's still earned its place within the larger universe it exists in. It's also far and away ABC's most successful Marvel show, as both Agent Carter and Inhumans had much shorter runs. And, in the case of Inhumans, outright disastrous runs from the start.

The cast for the series includes Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley and Jeff Ward. Be sure to check out the new trailer for yourself and keep an eye out for the rest of our SDCC coverage throughout the weekend. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Fridays on ABC.
