Netflix is continuing their collaboration with Ricky Gervais, as they've revealed the first photos and premiere date for After Life. The streaming service initially ordered this latest series from the comedy legend last May, continuing their already fruitful relationship. Now, we have word that the six-part series will debut on Netflix March 8. While they haven't yet released a trailer, they have released a handful of official photos, offering up our first look at the new show.

The photos themselves aren't terribly revealing without any further context, showcasing Ricky Gervais in a variety of settings looking rather glum. Gervais not only stars in After Life, but he also serves as creator, writer and director. So this is very much his baby. The show centers on a man named Tony who had a perfect life before his wife Lisa died. The event changes Tony. After considering taking his own life, he instead decides to live long enough to punish the world, saying and doing whatever he wants from now on. Tony views this as his very own Super Power, the ability to not care about himself or anyone else. As it turns out, things get complicated when everyone is trying to save the nice guy he used to be.

Ricky Gervais is joined by quite a few people he's worked with in the past. This includes Kerry Godliman (Derek) as Lisa, Tom Basden (David Brent: Life On The Road) as Tony's brother-in-law Matt, Tony Way (Edge of Tomorrow) as Tony's best-friend Lenny, David Bradley (Game of Thrones) as Tony's dad and Ashley Jensen (Extras) as a Nurse to Tony's dad. The cast also includes Penelope Wilton (Doctor Who), David Earl (Derek), Joe Wilkinson (Him and Her), Kerry Godliman (Derek), Mandeep Dhillon (Some Girls), Jo Hartley (Eddie the Eagle), Roisin Conaty (Man Down), Tim Plester (The Little Stranger) and Diane Morgan (David Brent: Life On The Road).

This is just the next in a series of creative endeavors between Ricky Gervais and Netflix, who are currently far and away the largest streaming service in the world with nearly 140 million subscribers and counting. They previously collaborated on the 2016 movie Special Correspondents, which co-starred Eric Bana. They also delivered his The Office spin-off, David Brent: Life on the Road, which brought back his beloved character from the original British run of the classic sitcom. Netflix also released his stand-up special Humanity in March of 2018. They have a deal in place for another special, which doesn't yet have a premiere date locked down.

Netflix is set to spend as much as $12 billion on original content this year and this is just one small part of that equation. The series is produced by Charlie Hanson, with Ricky Gervais and Duncan Hayes serving as executive producers. We'll be sure to bring you the trailer for After Life once it's made available. In the meantime, be sure to check out the recently released photos from Netflix below.
