HBO Max has released the first trailer for The West Wing reunion special. The award-winning original cast will come together for first time in 17 years for a special staged theatrical presentation of iconic Hartsfield's Landing episode. The reunion, which is officially titled A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote, will premiere on October 15th with special appearances by First Lady Michelle Obama, President Bill Clinton, and Lin-Manuel Miranda during the act breaks.
With less than a month remaining until the general election, HBO Max has revealed the trailer for The West Wing special. The original cast has reunited with creator Aaron Sorkin and executive producer/director Thomas Schlamme for a special theatrical stage presentation of the Hartsfield's Landing episode from the show's third season. The West Wing stars Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Rob Lowe, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford, and Martin Sheen will reprise their roles from the episode. Sterling K. Brown has also joined the team for next week's event.
The West Wing reunion trailer finds the original cast getting back together for the first time and rehearsing in front of an empty theatre. Members of the cast can be shown wearing masks and PPE equipment before they get into their practice. Lines from the popular episode can be heard, along with reenactments of key scenes to ramp up the drama. While the episode has a heavy tone, one can easily see that the entire cast had a great time getting back together, even during such a difficult time. Fans have waited nearly 20 years to see Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Rob Lowe, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford, and Martin Sheen back together again, so there will likely be a lot of people tuning in to see how the episode pans out. At this point in time, this is the only event planned for the reunion.
