Back in July, after just over one month of filming, Fox debuted the first trailer for the network's highly-anticipated Untitled X-Files Revival, which gave us our first look at the return of Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson). Earlier tonight, Fox debuted a two-part trailer for the highly-anticipated series, which aired during new episodes of Gotham and Minority Report, and in case you didn't see it live, we have the new footage right here. The series will debut with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, Jan. 24 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), following the NFC Championship Game, and continuing with its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

The first half of the trailer showed Mulder revealing that, while his "investigation" into paranormal activities stopped in 2002, his obsession is still stronger than ever. We also get to see Joel McHale's character, a news anchor who becomes allies with Mulder, along with our first look at Mitch Pileggi as Walter Skinner and a mysterious old man.

When The X-Files takes over the Monday 8 PM time slot in January, it isn't known yet if Gotham, which currently occupies that time slot, will go on a brief hiatus during the X-Files' six-episode run, or if the show will move to another time slot. It's possible that Fox could be taking a page out of ABC's playbook for Marvel's Agent Carter, which airs during Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s midseason hiatus. This would allow for Fox to air more episodes of Gotham back-to-back, instead of the show taking a number of breaks throughout the season.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their iconic roles as Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Scully in the upcoming event series which will encompass a mixture of stand-alone investigative episodes and those that further the original show's seminal mythology. In the opening episode, Mulder and Scully take on a case of a possible alien abductee. We also reported earlier this month that the premiere episode will debut at New York Comic Con on October 10, months before its debut on Fox.

Previously-announced guest stars for the six-episode series, including Joel McHale (Community), Robbie Amell (The Flash), Lauren Ambrose (Dig, Six Feet Under), Annabeth Gish (The Bridge), Annet Mahendru (The Americans), Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) and William B. Davis, who reprises his role as "Cigarette Smoking Man." Three of the episodes are written and directed by Chris Carter, with the remaining new episodes written and directed by original series veterans Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong.

The X-Files originally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Mulder (David Duchovny), as they investigate unexplained cases - X-Files - for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena. The X-Files is a production of 20th Century Fox Television in association with Ten Thirteen Productions. Carter is executive producer and creator of the series. Glen Morgan also serves as an executive producer. Take a look at the full trailer below, and stay tuned for more on The X-Files.
