"I want to believe!" The iconic UFO poster gets stomped on as the military arrive to investigate strange lights in the first teaser trailer for the Untitled X-Files Revival. Soon, Mulder and Scully are back on the case. And just what is in that bag? Fox revealed the first teaser trailer for The X-Files, which returns after a 13 year hiatus. And it hints at a possible extraterrestrial case for our long absent FBI agents.

Fox debuted the first official footage during last night's penultimate episode of Wayward Pines, turning an average Thursday night into a monumental occasion. The Untitled X-Files Revival was announced way back in May, and only started shooting this summer. While we still have half a year before it hits, Fox is already starting to get everyone excited for the return of Mulder and Scully, who haven't worked since 2008's The X-Files: I Want to Believe. And it looks like they still want to believe!

Fox has ordered 6 new episodes of The X-Files, calling it an 'Event Series'. Though creator Chris Carter is open to more in the future, as is star David Duchovny. These latest episodes, long-awaited by fans, will debut Sunday, January 24, 2016. Both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have been excited to reprise their roles as Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. They will be joined by newcomers Annet Mahendru and Joel McHale.

Also returning is Mitch Pileggi, who once again serves as Mulder and Scully's boss Walter Skinner. And William B. Davis is back as the iconic Cigarette-Smoking Man, who some fans fear is going to be turned into the Vape-smoking man, but that rumor has never been confirmed. Another rumor that still lingers is that late series additions Annabeth Gish and Robert Patrick are coming back as special agents Monica Reyes and John Doggett. Other persistent rumors include the return of The Lone Gunmen (Bruce Harwood's Byers, Tom Braidwood's Frohike and Dean Haglund's Langly). It should be noted that the beloved trio were killed off in the The X-Files Season 9 episode Jump the Shark. But the IDW comic book based on the series supports the fact that they lived and are still doing quite well. It has yet to be seen if the comic will actually tie into the new TV show.

Premiering in September of 1993, The X-Files was an immediate cult sensation on it's way to becoming a full-blown phenomenon. It ran for 9 seasons, ending in 2002. A massive global hit, it spawned two feature films, 1998's The X-Files and 2008's The X-Files: I Want to Believe. The show would go onto earn 16 Emmy Awards, 5 Golden Globe Awards, and a Peabody Award. Untitled X-Files Revival reunites FBI special agents Scully and Mulder as they investigate unexplained cases - X-Files - for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena. Take a look as the two beloved agents return!
