We reported last month that a film version of the hit Fox TV series 24 would happen after the series finished its TV run and it seems that TV run may be over sooner than expected. Variety is reporting that Fox could be ready to end the series after this current season.

Representatives from both the Fox network and 20th Century Fox Television, which produces the show, declined to comment on the story, but the trade reports that an official decision on the series' fate is expected within the next few days.

In our earlier report, we stated that screenwriter Billy Ray had been hired to adapt the series into a feature film and his pitch wowed Fox execs and the producers of the show, which include star Kiefer Sutherland. Not much was known about the film's plot, although it was said that Sutherland's Jack Bauer would be heading to Europe in the film.

We'll be sure to keep an eye on this developing story and we'll keep you posted if we come across any new information about the fate of 24.
