Seven months after it was first announced that Netflix is planning a 10-episode TV series sequel for the 2001 indie comedy Wet Hot American Summer, E! Online reports that the series is now moving forward. Production is scheduled to begin in January, although none of the original cast members from Wet Hot American Summer have been confirmed to return quite yet. David Wain, who made his feature directorial debut with Wet Hot American Summer, is executive producing alongside Michael Showalter, who co-wrote the movie with David Wain, Jonathan Stern, Peter Principato and Howard Bernstein.

Back in June, Michael Showalter revealed they plan on bringing the entire original cast back, which includes Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, Molly Shannon, Michael Ian Black, Zak Orth, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Amy Poehler, Joe Lo Truglio, Elizabeth Banks and Bradley Cooper. Michael Showalter also revealed that the entire 10-episode series will take place on the first day of camp, with the entire cast reprising their roles from the movie, playing high school students despite the fact that most of the actors are over 40 years old.

Netflix has not confirmed this report as of yet, but it sounds like the long-awaited Wet Hot American Summer TV series is moving forward. Michael Showalter also revealed in June that they are crafting the show as just one 10-episode mini-series, although there is the potential to expand with more seasons in the future.
