HBO has unveiled three short teasers for their upcoming Watchmen TV series. While the teases are brief, they are still exciting and they hint at the past along with the future. Fans have been waiting for a full-length trailer for quite some time now, but we have yet to see one. With that being said, it is widely believed the trailer will be paired with the Game of Thrones Season 8 finale, which is only a few weeks away. HBO will more than likely want to promote their next big budget project now that Game of Thrones is coming to a close.

The first of the Watchmen teasers features a scythe with a pirate flag, which is reminiscent of Tales from the Black Freighter. The caption reads, "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." Fans should be pretty excited over the fact that the storyline is being teased. However, Damon Lindelof's adaptation is going to be a bit different than the iconic source material. He likens his version to a remix, noting that the source material is too good not to "sample" and spring off from.

The second of the Watchmen teasers shows a blue sphere with two large circular rings rotating around it. The caption reads, "Reach out and touch Mars," which is more than likely a callback to Doctor Manhattan's visit to Mars. The third and final teaser shows off the new American Flag with 51 states, since Vietnam is now a part of the United States. The caption with the teaser reads, "It's not 1985 anymore." It definitely is not 1985 anymore and Watchmen fans are starting to get excited for what's to come.

Damon Lindelof appears to be calling back some iconic moments from the Watchmen movie, but he is bringing it in a new direction. Even after all of this time, we aren't quite sure just how he's going to pull off this massive task with so much pressure attached to it. There are going to be new characters mixed in with some old characters, along with new storylines inspired by the source material. It's pretty amazing that Lindelof has been able to keep everything a secret for this long and not have anything leak.

The Watchmen TV series is set in an alternate history and stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers and Dylan Schombing. We're going to see new characters and new faces all branching out from the iconic source material, which puts Damon Lindelof in a good place. He won't have to deal with trying to recreate the original stuff and will be able to use artistic license to keep going in the world created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.
