Yesterday, Entertainment Weekly released the cover of this week's issue, which featured The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), and Melissa Suzanne McBride (Carol Peltier). Unfortunately, these images were for the magazine's photo shoot, and didn't depict any scenes from the upcoming Season 6. If those images weren't enough to get you that Walking Dead fix you so desperately need, then you're in luck, because AMC has released five photos featuring some of the new zombies Rick, Daryl, Carol and the rest of these Alexandria survivors will have to contend with.

AMC revealed the first trailer for The Walking Dead Season 6 during the show's Hall H panel at Comic-Con last month. The footage introduced one of the new characters, Ethan Embry's Carter, who doesn't seem to be a fan of Rick and his violent ways. Norman Reedus teased that this season will feature "a lot of internal conflict" between Rick and his crew. You may recall that, in one Season 5 episode, Rick stated that they would just "take" Alexandria over if the townspeople didn't agree with their methods. We may actually see that happening when Season 6 gets started.

Other new characters who will be introduced this season include Merritt Wever's Dr. Denise Cloyd, who will be even more important to the Alexandria community after the death of Pete (Corey Brill), along with Corey Antonio Hawkins' Heath, a supply runner. While Denise and Heath are characters in Robert Kirkman's comics, showrunner Scott M. Gimple said that Carter is, "a combo of a few characters that we actually haven't hit yet or weren't able to hit in other characters". In the original comics, Heath and Denise are romantically involved, but it isn't known if this relationship will carry over to the series.

Last month, just before Comic-Con, we reported that the show is casting for two more new characters, the married couple Kirk and Hilda. There are no characters in the comics named Kirk and Hilda, but fans have already speculated that this couple could be Dwight and Sherry. While that may be possible, the couple do not surface in the comics until after the villainous Negan is introduced, which hasn't happened on the show yet. Kirk and Sherry have yet to be cast, so we'll have to wait and see who will play these characters.

The season premieres of The Walking Dead and Talking Dead will coincide with AMC's Zombie Apocalypse Week, from Monday, October 5 through Sunday, October 11, as well as the network's annual blockbuster marathon of thriller and horror films, AMC Fearfest. Celebrating its 19th year, AMC Fearfest will feature themed programming and more than 60 films, running from Sunday, October 18 through Friday, October 31. Check out the new zombie photos for The Walking Dead Season 6, and stay tuned for more photos and videos from this hit series.
