Supernatural star Jared Padalecki is getting ready for a new role. The actor is reportedly executive producing and starring in a Walker, Texas Ranger reboot series. Padalecki's current long-running series is coming to an end and fans are not happy to see it go. The 15th and final season premieres next month and will conclude next year, which will open up the actor's schedule to get prepared for a new role that Chuck Norris made famous back in the 1990s. Taking on anything Norris has done before will prove to be a pretty big challenge.

The Walker, Texas Ranger reboot is currently being shopped to various networks. The project is written and executive produced by Anna Fricke and executive produced by Dan Lin (Lethal Weapon). It is believed that The CW, which is the home of Supernatural, is very interested in keeping their working relationship with Jared Padalecki going. CBS is also said to be a contender, which makes sense since they ran the original series in the 1990s.

The Walker, Texas Ranger reboot series will reportedly follow the same story that the original did, which was created by Albert S. Ruddy and Leslie Greif. The new series will find Jared Padalecki's Walker "getting a female partner, (and) will explore morality, family, and rediscovering our lost common ground." Walker will return home after being undercover on a high profile crime case for two years and will soon learn that there's a lot of work to be done at home. Walker and his partner "are the modern day heroes our world needs, following their own moral code to fight for what's right, regardless of the rules."

The CW president Mark Pedowitz is a major fan of Supernatural and he recently told the cast and crew, who are like a big family, that they are always welcome at the network. "You will always have a home here, and you will always have a personal fan in me," said Pedowitz. Ending the long-running series was not an easy choice to make, but everybody felt that now was the right time to let it all go. It seems like the best home for the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot series is at The CW.

With Jared Padalecki taking on a new version of Walker, Texas Ranger for a new generation, Supernatural fans will probably start hoping for some cameos from his former co-stars. Though the show has not been formally announced, one can easily see Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins stepping up to take part in small cameos. While Supernatural fans are hoping for cameos, original fans are more than likely hoping Chuck Norris will come around or at the very least, give Padalecki some tips on playing the character. Regardless, this project should be well-received upon its release. Deadline was the first to report on the Walker, Texas Ranger reboot series starring Jared Padalecki.
