When Showtime first announced their Twin Peaks revival, the only cast member confirmed was original series star Kyle MacLachlan, who is returning as Special Agent Dale Cooper. In the months that followed, several other Twin Peaks stars were rumored to be returning, but none of them have been confirmed by Showtime. Today, Deadline reports that original series star Sherilyn Fenn is coming back to play Audrey Horne.

The site says that her character will have a "major presence" in the new series, although no plot details have been uncovered at this time. In the original series, Audrey is the daughter of Benjamin Horne (Richard Beymer), who was discovered to be the secret lover of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) before her death. Audrey was infatuated with Dale Cooper throughout the series, as she tried to help him in his investigation of Laura Palmer's death.

We reported in November that Miguel Ferrer is also returning to reprise his role as FBI agent Albert Rosenfield, with original cast members such as Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer) and Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Brooks) also rumored to be returning. Production has been under way for several months, under the direction of David Lynch, but it isn't known when Showtime plans to officially unveil the cast.

The site also reports that another original cast member, Lara Flynn Boyle, will not be returning as Audrey's half-sister, Donna Heyward. David Patrick Kelly is believed to return as Jerry Horne, along with Richard Beymer as Benjamin Horne. New cast members include Amanda Seyfried, Balthazar Getty, Robert Knepper, Peter Sarsgaard and Jennifer Jason Leigh, although nothing has been revealed about their characters yet. There have been rumors that Amanda Seyfried may be playing the daughter of Dale Cooper and Heather Graham's Annie Blackburn.

Showtime had originally planned on airing the new series in 2016, which lines up with a cryptic passage of dialogue from the series finale back in 1991, where Laura Palmer tells Dale Cooper that he'll see her again, in 25 years. Unfortunately, it was confirmed in November that the TV series won't debut until 2017. David Lynch is directing from a massive script he wrote with original series co-creator Mark Frost. The entire season is being shot as one gigantic movie, that will be cut into individual episodes in post-production. The show was originally set to air 9 episodes, but now it may be as many as 18 episodes. Sherilyn Fenn most recently played Donna Cochran in Showtime's Ray Donovan, and she will next be seen on the big screen in Something About Her and The Secrets of Emily Blair.
