Twilight star Rachelle Lefevre has joined the growing cast of the new CBS series Under the Dome.

The story takes place in the sleepy town of Chester Mill, Maine, which inexplicably becomes sealed off from the rest of the world by a gigantic dome. The actress is said to be playing an "investigative reporter," and, while the character's identity was not given, it is believed she will play Julia Shumway, the owner and editor of Chester Mill's newspaper The Democrat. The character becomes a communications conduit between the yet-to-be-cast Colonel Cox, who is outside the dome, and Dale "Barbie" Barbara (Mike Vogel), via her cell phone.

The actress joins a cast that already includes Dean Norris, Colin Ford, Aisha Hinds, Alexander Koch, Natalie Martinez, Jolene Purdy, Britt Robertson, and Nicholas Strong.

Brian K. Vaughan wrote the pilot script, based on Stephen King's novel. The writer will also executive produce alongside Neal Baer, Steven Spielberg, Stephen King, Justin Falvey, and Darryl Frank. Niels Arden Oplev is directing the Season 1 Premiere, which is set to debut June 24 at 10 PM ET on CBS.
