The dynamic Shaun of the Dead duo of Nick Frost and Simon Pegg are teaming up once again. The two are set to star in and produce a show called Truth Seekers, which has been picked up by Amazon Prime as a new original series. The two will be playing ghost hunters and, in addition to their starring roles, Frost and Pegg will be producing via their own Stolen Picture production company.

According to a new report, Truth Seekers will center on paranormal investigators who team up to uncover and film paranormal sightings in the U.K. Along the way, they'll visit haunted churches, underground bunkers and abandoned hospitals, utilizing homemade ghost-hunting equipment and share their findings online. As they continue along, the pair uncovers a conspiracy that could threaten the entire human race, causing their supernatural encounters to increase in frequency, as well as making them more scary and deadly. Simon Pegg had this to say in a statement.

"Nick and I are delighted that 'Truth Seekers' has found a home with Amazon Prime Video. We're looking forward to working closely with them and creating something very special. These are truly exciting times for television, and I can't think of a better partner than Amazon to accompany us on a return to the smaller screen."

On the show, Nick Frost will play Gus and Simon Pegg will play Dave. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will also co-write the series alongside Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz. This is the first show from Stolen Picture, which was formed by Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Miles Ketley, who started the company in 2017. They've since been backed by Sony. Frost had this to say in a statement.

"Simon, Miles and I, and everyone at Stolen Picture, are incredibly happy to be making 'Truth Seekers' with our new partners, Amazon Prime Video. It's been nothing but a joyride in seeing this mad tale of paranormal conspiracy unfold in all its understated brilliance. Amazon's commitment and support of the show, and of original programming generally, showed us that we couldn't be collaborating with a bigger or better team."

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have both had well-rounded careers in Hollywood, but the two are forever linked thanks to their collaborations with director Edgar Wright. Commonly known as the Cornetto Trilogy, the two starred alongside one another in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End. They also starred together in Paul, as well as the recent horror/comedy they produced, Slaughterhouse Rulez.

Truth Seekers is set to begin production in September. Jim Field Smith is set to direct the first season, which will consist of eight episodes. There is no word yet on a premiere date, but sometime in mid-to-late 2020 seems likely. We'll be sure to keep you posted as further details are made available. This news as first reported by Variety.
