It's a great time to be a Trent Reznor fan, as he's currently in a very productive mode. He not only has the soundtrack for Leonardo DiCaprio's Before the Flood out, he's also working on new Nine Inch Nails material which could manifest itself into a whole new album. The band hasn't put out an album since 2013's Hesitation Marks.

Out today, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Mogwai, and Argentine film composer Gustavo Santaolalla all collaborated on the soundtrack for Before the Flood. They provide the backdrop for Leonardo DiCaprio's latest delve inot the controversial climate change, which is being released by National Geographic. To celebrate the release, Reznor and Ross appeared on Zane Lowe's Beats 1, where they talked about the collaboration. They also shared a new track from the album, as well as a few other interesting tidbits of information.

The music released is actually the title track for Before the Flood, a piece that they wrote alongside composer Gustavo Santaolalla. During the interview it was revealed that the movie's working title was 'Are We F*cked Yet?', which obviously had to be changed because it doesn't fit well on family friendly marquees. Trent Reznor took this time to talk about some of his other projects, revealing a new Nine Inch Nails album is currently in the gestation period.

"We've been working on Nine Inch Nails stuff. Things are going good, and when we have something that we think is excellent we will unleash it upon the world."

So, will we see a new Nine Inch Nails album in 2017? Or perhaps 2018? It's already been three years since the last new music, but that's because Trent Reznor has been plenty busy with his film work as of late. It has already been announced that he'll next collaborate with Atticus Ross on the upcoming Boston Marathon bombing movie, Patriots Day, which is in theaters this December.

In Before the Flood, Actor Leonardo DiCaprio meets with scientists, activists and world leaders to discuss the dangers of climate change and possible solutions. You can check out the full interview with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross below. Reznor does tease that we may even hear some of the new Nine Inch Nails music before the end of the year.
