Sad news for Southland fans. TNT has canceled the drama series, with Southland Season 5 being its last. The final episode aired on April 17th, leaving the life of one character on the edge of death. (We like to believe that John Cooper lives!)

The cable network released the following statement.

"The decision to cancel Southland was a difficult one. We are enormously proud of Southland, which stands as one of the best police dramas ever made. Executive producers John Wells, Christopher Chulack and Jonathan Lisco, along with creator Ann Biderman and our partners at Warner Bros. Television, have given us five seasons of powerful, unforgettable storytelling, for which we are deeply grateful. We also want to thank the amazing cast for their impassioned, no-holds-barred performances, and the production team for their tenacity shooting on the streets of real-world Los Angeles. We wish everyone associated with Southland the very best."

Southland debuted on NBC in October of 2009. It was canceled weeks before Southland Season 2 was set to air. TNT picked up the already produced episodes a month later and went on to produce three more seasons.

Series stars Ben McKenzie and Shawn Hatosy had already booked pilots on CBS for the upcoming season, but neither of those shows have been picked up at this time.

If you want Southland to continue, send all requests to Netflix.
