The cast of DC's Titans has just grown by one, with Bruno Bichir coming aboard to play the recurring role of Dr. Niles "The Chief" Caulder. The Chief is described as, "a brilliant but controversial medical science pioneer in search of those on the edge of death and in need of miracle." This character is associated with a group of strange heroes who call themselves the Doom Patrol, which writer/executive producer Geoff Johns recently confirmed will be a part of the show, when he tweeted out the script cover for the fifth episode, entitled "The Doom Patrol."

The Doom Patrol is a superhero team originally created by writers Arnold Drake and Bob Haney and artist Bruno Premiani. The team consists of super-powered misfits, whose unique abilities lead to them all being alienated in different ways. Other members of the Doom Patrol include Robotman (Cliff Steele), Elasti-Girl (Rita Farr), and Negative Man (Larry Trainor). There is no confirmation as of yet that these characters will be featured in this live-action superhero series, but with confirmation of The Chief and the Doom Patrol as a whole, we may get more details soon.

The Chief joins a cast of characters that includes Dick Grayson/Nightwing (Brenton Thwaites), Hank Hall/Hawk (Alan Ritchson), Dawn Granger/Dove (Minka Kelly), Rachel Roth/Raven (Teagan Croft), Koriand'r/Starfire (Anna Diop), Garfield Logan/Beast Boy (Ryan Potter) and Detective Amy Rohrback (Lindsey Gort). Seamus Deaver also came aboard last month, although no details about his character have been given at this time. Many of these characters have superpowers, with Raven the daughter of the demon who tries to keep her powers at bay, while Starfire can fly and shoot energy bolts and Beast Boy can turn into any animal of his choosing.

Titans follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. "Titans" is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever. It has also been confirmed that the Hawk and Dove characters will be a romantic couple like in the comics.

Titans will be written by Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery, Underground), Geoff Johns (President & Chief Creative Officer, DC Entertainment; The Flash, Arrow) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl). Goldsman, Johns, Berlanti and Sarah Schechter (Arrow, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl) are executive producers of the series from Weed Road Pictures and Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Bruno Bichir, the brother of actor Demian Bichir, most recently starred in the mini-series Absentia and he will next be seen on the big screen in Sicario 2: Soldado.
