Earlier this week director Taika Waititi sent another photo out from the set of Thor: Ragnarok on Twitter, teasing that there are just two days left of production. Today is in fact the last day, and to celebrate production wrapping, the filmmaker gave fans a tour from the set through Facebook Live, which includes a few special guests, Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, and Tessa Thompson, although they are not in full costume.
The Facebook video is just over 13 minutes long, which starts with what looks like a peaceful lake environment, but as the director pans over, we see quite a bit of wreckage in this intergalactic junkyard set. We also see a number of actors wearing elaborate costumes, but who exactly they're playing in Thor 3 is anyone's guess, and it's not clear how these characters and this set fit into the story. What's also intriguing is, while Tessa Thompson isn't in her full Valkyrie costume, we do get our first glimpse at her facial makeup.
Fans are also introduced to Bobby, Chris Hemsworth's stunt double who does "all the serious stunts," along with a slew of unidentified crew members who are all hard at work on their last day of production. With production wrapping, that means fans will be looking forward to the first trailer, but with almost exactly one year left until Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters, it remains unclear when the first trailer may arrive. Hopefully director Taika Waititi will keep fans updated on when the first trailer will debut through social media.
Marvel hasn't released any story details, but there have been no shortage of rumors thus far. Mark Ruffalo was confirmed to return as Hulk reports surfaced that both Thor and Hulk will take a "cosmic road trip," and that this story will be partially based on the iconic Planet Hulk comics. According to rumors, Loki teams up with the new villain Hela (Cate Blanchett), who destroys Thor's hammer Mjolnir and banishes Thor from Asgard. Thor ends up on a gladiator planet where he's forced to face the current champion, Hulk. Marvel showcased this Planet Hulk armor for fans at Comic-Con this past summer.
In addition to the final set video, Taika Waititi shared a new photo of himself on the set, wearing a bizarre helmet. Thor: Ragnarok features several returning Thor franchise mainstays, such as Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Hopkins (Odin) and Idris Elba (Heimdall). This sequel will also bring new cast members into the fold such as Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Cate Blanchett (Hela), Karl Urban (Skurge) and Jeff Goldblum (The Grandmaster).
