Fox's hit reality music competition show The X Factor will have a more youthful presence in Season 2, with Britney Spears and Demi Lovato signing on as judges/mentors. Fox chief Kevin Reilly would not confirm the news, but it is believed both singers will appear at the network's upfront presentation in New York later today.

Both Britney Spears, 30, and Demi Lovato, 19, are younger than the youngest judges on NBC's The Voice (Christina Aguilera, 31) and Fox's American Idol (Jennifer Lopez, 42). The move was likely made to draw in a younger demographic to the show.

While The X Factor pulled in decent ratings in its first season last fall, the show was viewed as somewhat of a disappointment after months of hype before its debut. Executive producer Simon Cowell cleaned house at the end of the season, firing judges Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and host Steve Jones. L.A. Reid remains on board as a judge for Season 2.

We reported earlier today that The X Factor will air on Wednesday nights this fall from 8 PM ET to 10 PM ET, with an hour-long results show following on Thursday nights at 8 PM ET.
