AMC has released a new The Walking Dead featurette for season 10. The video features footage from the upcoming season and teases what comes next. In addition to the footage, the cast and executive producers give better insight of what to expect in the upcoming tenth season. Executive producer Greg Nicotero describes the upcoming season as having a "subversive Cold War-type paranoia," which seems to fit quite nicely when looking at the arrival of the Whisperers.

The Walking Dead is a story that started on the small screen 10 years ago with one man trying to find his family. What that family is, has gone on to grow and evolve, which saw new communities take shape. The new family fought and survived, thrived and gave birth to a new generation, though it's not the kind of life one would wish on a child. It is a tale of humankind and there are more stories to tell, which could go on for more than an additional three years, according to Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

The Walking Dead season 10 finds the characters in the Spring, just a few months after the end of Season 9, when the group of survivors dared to cross into Whisperer territory during the harsh winter. The collected communities are still dealing with the after effects of Alpha's horrific display of power. They are reluctantly respecting the new borderlines being imposed on them, all while organizing themselves into a militia-style fighting force, preparing for a battle that seems inevitable at this point. But the Whisperers are a threat unlike any they have ever faced. Backed by a massive horde of the dead it is seemingly a fight that seems virtually impossible to win.

The main question of The Walking Dead season 10 is what to do with this war on the Whisperers. The new fight brings fear that breeds and infects the communities, giving rise to paranoia, propaganda, secret agendas, and infighting that will test them as individuals and as a society. The very idea of whether civilization can survive in a world filled with the dead hangs in the balance. Things are going to get pretty dark, which is not uncommon for the long-running AMC series.

The Walking Dead season 10 premieres October 6th on AMC. Early reviews for the first three episodes have started to trickle in after the world premiere and it sounds like long-time fans are going to be very satisfied. The hit series has seen some hiccups over the years in terms of ratings, but with the events of last season, it seems like things are going to be on the upswing, especially with Danai Gurira leaving the show after this season.
