Back in October, we reported that NBC had passed on The Office spin-off series The Farm. The original plan was to air the pilot as a regular episode of the office, focusing on Rainn Wilson's Dwight Schrute as he inherits his family's beet farm and bed and breakfast inn, before breaking off into its own show. Today, we have word that The Farm episode will still air as an episode of The Office.

Executive producer Greg Daniels revealed that the episode will not air as it was originally produced, with new material being shot that will replace discarded footage that doesn't relate to The Office.

"We're not going to air exactly what it was, because it has certain aspects that were appropriate for a pilot of a new show. We're going to shoot a little additional material to make it fit into the season more."

The network's decision to pass on The Farm will also have an impact on Dwight's future with Angela (Angela Kinsey) as the series winds down. It isn't clear when exactly the episode will air, although it will debut before the series finale in May.
