Roseanne Conner is dead, but the show must go on. At least that's the idea behind ABC's upcoming spin-off of the classic blue-collar sitcom, which returns this October. The network has released a new trailer for The Conners, and it asks the question that is on everyone's minds.

No, not that question. The other one. The Conners is set to premiere on October 16, and will debut as the inaugural Halloween episode. Roseanne has always celebrated the holiday with a horror-themed story revolving around the fall festivities. Roseanne Barr, who created the show and was the main driving force behind every year's big Halloween celebration, didn't get to participate this year, as she was fired from her own show for a racist Tweet. Though she appeared in the first season of the revival series, it debuted earlier this year, in the spring, when it would have been really dopey to do a Halloween episode.

The latest trailer for The Conners continues to tease fans with what's ahead, and the ultimate fate of Roseanne Conner. Series star John Goodman has already confirmed that the queen of the household will die from a prescription pain pill overdose. And these next episodes will all take place in a world post-Roseanne. A world where Jackie, Roseanne's sister, isn't sure how to split up the fall holiday budget between Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Darlene, perhaps channeling her late mother, knows the answer to this all important question. Spend everything on Halloween, so that they have nothing to be thankful for in November, and they're all too broke to buy gifts in December. It's the way Roseanne would have wanted it. So you can tell her spirit will be lingering around the edged of this revamped sitcom. How could it not be?

The latest sneak peek has a funny joke about corn holders, but what's really coming later this month is still being kept under wraps. We see all of the original returning characters, some of the new ones, but you can't help but feel there is a big hole in all of this. And it doesn't look like it will be filled anytime soon.

Roseanne regulars John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Michael Fishman and Lecy Goranson are all back on that iconic couch, sitting alongside Revival stars Jayden Rey, Ames McNamara and Emma Kenney, who play the Conners' grandkids. The younger actors have all been promoted to series regulars for The Conners spin-off. Though, it's hard to tell if this will be the hit the original was, without its leading lady to keep things in order.

The Conners will kick off with a sudden turn of events, as the family is soon forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. will all be struggling with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. Through all the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs and the breakdowns, the family prevails with love, humor and perseverance. Take a look at the new trailer which was launched by ABC earlier today.
