ABC has released images from the upcoming debut episode of The Conners, which is entitled Keep on Truckin'. Dan (John Goodman), Jackie (Laurie Metcalf), Darlene (Sara Gilbert), Becky (Lecy Goranson), and Mark (Ames McNamara) are all featured in the photos. The moods shift from joyous to solemn, but other than that, it looks like the Roseanne show, minus the star of the series. Fans are anxious to see how the remaining cast members pull together to create a show that moves without Roseanne Barr.

Behind-the-scenes, The Conners is running smoothly, according to Emma Kenney, who plays Darlene's daughter Harris. Kenney says that the first table read was "great," and noted that she was excited to be back together with everybody. The new series has been in production since last month and the network released a picture of the group reunited on the first day of filming in the familiar Conner family kitchen. Kenney had this to say about returning with The Conners.

"I think that all of us are very professional. And there's just so many more stories that need to be told through the Conner family and so many other different aspects of life that we're going to get to tell, and I'm really excited and grateful for that."

Roseanne Barr was recently asked about The Conners and she stated that she is going to remain neutral about the new show. She also stated that she might go to Israel to study with some of her favorite teachers before the show airs. The comedian has publicly addressed that she has mental health issues, and admits that it's been pretty rough for her after the Roseanne revival series got canceled.

As for how The Conners will move on without Roseanne Barr, John Goodman all but confirmed that the series will kill off her character. The ending of the Roseanne revival series had Barr's character going in for knee surgery, which also introduced a storyline with prescription drug dependency, so she could die on the operating table during the knee surgery, or she could suffer a drug overdose. Whichever way you look at it, The Conners are going to have to navigate some dark waters before they are able to get to the humor.

One of the best things about the original Roseanne show was the way that they dealt with loss and heavy issues, so hopefully that skill remains intact when The Conners debuts next month. There are still plenty of stories to be told with the original cast members along with the new additions, and it has been confirmed that some of the story arcs for Darlene and Dan that were going to be used for the second season of the revival series will be used.
