Terminator Reboot Plans TV Series Tie-In
Annapurna Pictures and Skydance Productions are expanding their Terminator franchise to the small screen, with a new TV series that will tie into the upcoming tentatively titled Terminator 5, which is being looked at as a reboot.
Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (Thor, X-Men: First Class) have signed on to write the pilot script and executive produce, with Terminator 5 writers Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis also serving as executive producers.
The story will follow a crucial moment from the original 1984 film The Terminator, taking the story in a completely different direction than the movie. The narratives of both the Terminator 5 movie and its subsequent sequels will be designed to intersect with the TV story line at some point in the future. The plan is similar to Marvel's cinematic universe being intertwined with ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but on a much larger scale.
Paramount currently isn't involved with the TV series, but that may change, especially since the studio recently launched a new television division. Megan Ellison, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross will serve as producers.
