The tagline for Season 9 of Supernatural, as shown in the new promo art, is "Prepare for the Fall." Of course, this has nothing to do with the cool-weather season, but it does refer to the numerous falling angels that can be seen in the background, which was teased at the end of the Season 8 finale, "Sacrifice". Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester), Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester), Misha Collins (Castiel) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) are featured in the poster, which you can check out below. You can also read on for more information about this season, returning Tuesday, October 9 at 9 PM ET with "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here", from executive producer Jeremy Carver and star Jensen Ackles.

Supernatural Season 9 Promo Art

We saw in the first trailer for Season 9 that Abbadon (Alaina Huffman) wants all of the angels with "clipped wings" to bow to her. Here's what Jeremy Carver had to say about these Earth-bound angels.

"We're going to learn pretty quickly that a world full of fallen angels is pretty much a free-for-all. We're going to see it's not one unified body. We've got lots of angels out there with lots of different agendas. Many are feelings lost and vengeful. A world of fallen angels is a dirty, bloody, scary and, in some ways, a very human world."

Jensen Ackles also spoke about Castiel, who is now a human.

"It's going to be interesting. Castiel has been such a valuable tool to Dean over the past few years and I don't know if he's going to have him come clean his room; I don't know what's going to happen!"

Season 9 also includes new cast additions such as Tahmoh Penikett as Ezekiel, a fallen angel who was injured in his descent to Earth, and Whodunnit? host Gildart Jackson.

Here's the full synopsis for the Season 9 premiere, "I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here".

"Dean is frantic after Sam collapses and the doctor tells Dean his brother won't make it. Desperate, Dean sends out an all points bulletin via prayer to every angel in the area, asking them to help his brother. In exchange, Dean will owe that angel a favor. Numerous angry angels race to find and kill Dean, but one, Ezekiel, gets to him first. Meanwhile, Sam fights for his life and must face some familiar demons to do so. Castiel struggles to survive without powers."
