Last week, we reported that CBS' upcoming Supergirl pilot has cast Helen Slater, who played Kara Zor-El in the 1984 Supergirl movie, and Dean Cain, who played Superman on the hit 1990s TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Unfortunately, we still don't know who Helen Slater and Dean Cain are playing, but earlier today, Melissa Benoist, who is playing the new Kara Zor-El, sent out a photo of both herself and Helen Slater on her Twitter page.

Neither actress is seen in costume, and it isn't known when production may begin on the pilot, but it's possible that the actresses got to meet each other during a table read or perhaps costume fittings. We also reported last week that the production is seeking "photo doubles" to portray Superman, and that potential applicants must be available to work for several days in March, although exact dates were not given. If production is happening this month, perhaps this means we'll get our first official look at Melissa Benoist as Supergirl very soon.

The supporting cast of Supergirl also includes Mehcad Brooks as Kara's neighbor and co-worker Jimmy Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Kara and Jimmy's employer and CatCo founder Cat Grant, Laura Benanti as Kara's Kryptonian birth mother Alura Zor-El, Chyler Leigh as Kara's foster sister Alex Danvers and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, who, in the DC Comics, eventually becomes Cyborg Superman. Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler created the series and will serve as executive producers alongside Sarah Schechter. Take a look at the photo with "Supergirls then and now" below, and stay tuned for more information on this highly-anticipated series.
