Finally! Superman is coming to The CW's Supergirl. The DC Comics TV universe is really beloved by the fan base, but when CBS decided to air the first season of Supergirl last year, it was a bit of a gamble considering the huge audience they needed to justify the cost of the show. As it turned out, the show seems to fit better at home with the other DC heroes over on The CW. So for season 2, Supergirl will be joining up with The Flash, Arrow and perhaps most importantly, Superman.

According to producer Andrew Kreisberg, Clark Kent will indeed be making his way onto the series at least for the first two episodes of the second season. It won't just be Kent in the glasses though, as Kreisberg also mentioned Superman specifically, implying that we will see Kal-El in the cape. This is what Kreisberg had to say in his announcement.

"Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!"

The announcement didn't come with any sort of casting information or about how Kent will be brought into the fold, but there is likely a good reason for the lack of casting info. Production will be ramping up on season 2 of Supergirl very shortly and being that the role likely hasn't been filled yet, there will be a lot of interest in the part and the announcement will help bring the talent over to The CW. For those holding out any hope of Henry Cavill making his way to the small screen, don't hold your breathe.

Warner Bros. has made it very clear that they intend to keep their DC Comics TV and movie universes totally seperate. That and even if Warner Bros. decided to cross over their different universes, anyone who has seen Batman V Superman knows that Cavill is, shall we say, unavailable to play the part at the moment. As for who will be playing Kent in the current CW DC universe? There are little to no clues as to who the studio is looking at right now, but we should expect a short list in the coming days.

Supergirl will be right at home on The CW for season 2 as The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow have all been doing very well for the network and now Monday through Thursday will be filled with comic book goodness. For right now Superman will only be starring in a couple of episodes, but if the response is good enough it isn't at all hard to imagine that the powers that be could be looking at giving Superman his own TV show in the near future, though that is pure speculation at this point. Supergirl season 2 is set to debut on The CW in the fall, though an official premiere date has not yet been announced. We will be sure to keep you updated as more information regarding the new TV Superman and possible DC Crossovers with Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow are revealed.
