You may want to dust off your old Walkman cassette players, Stranger Things fans. Well, assuming you want to pick up a copy of the Stranger Things season 1 soundtrack on cassette, that is, which you can totally do in the very near future. Yes, in honor of the 1-year anniversary of the release of the first season of Stranger Things on Netflix, the soundtrack is getting a special, limited-edition cassette tape release. And the packaging alone may make it worth picking up.

According to Pitchfork, Lakeshore is going to release the cassette tape version of the Stranger Things season 1 soundtrack on July 14. If you feel motivated to get yourself a copy, you are going to want to head to an Urban Outfitters in your area, because this particular version of the soundtrack is reportedly only going to be available at the retailer exclusively. If you don't live near an Urban Outfitters, hopefully, they will make it available for purchase online as well. If not, you may have to try your luck on eBay or Amazon after the fact. Either way, this is a pretty fitting way to release the Stranger Things soundtrack, given the 80s setting.

The Stranger Things season 1 score, which was composed by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, was already given a vinyl box set release, which also feels appropriate for the time period is set in. But this new cassette tape release comes with some VHS-style box art, which gives it a leg up on the vinyl release. Not that anyone would really bother with a VHS release of Stranger Things when they can stream it in HD on Netflix, but having some sweet box art like this could justify the purchase of this cassette on its own. Then again, some people, for whatever reason, may just want to listen to the score on tape.

In recent years, to a lesser degree than the recent resurgence in vinyl records that has occurred, cassette tapes have come back into fashion. Despite the sound quality not being very good and the general inconvenience that comes with listening to a cassette, certain things are making their way to the antiquated medium. The Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1 also made its way to cassette and, in that case, as with Stranger Things, it makes sense sometimes. Even if it is just for the sake of novelty.

If a cassette tape doesn't quite float your boat whilst waiting for Stranger Things Season 2 to arrive this Halloween, perhaps the limited-edition Stranger Things Loot Crate will. The subscription box service announced recently that they are allowing pre-orders for an exclusive Stranger Things crate that will come with six items that are officially licensed from Netflix. Here's what Loot Crate CEO Chris Davis had to say about the Stranger Things crate in a statement.

"We are thrilled to develop this exclusive Stranger Things Crate with Netflix and can't wait to share it with fans of the show. The assortment of products is true to Loot Crate's 'for fans by fans' motto with several items designed by well-known artists who are Stranger Things fans."

Unlike the usual Loot Crate offerings, the Stranger Things crate is available for pre-order on its own for $59.99. That may sound a little steep, but the box does come with more than $100 worth of stuff. As for the cassette release of the Stranger Things season 1 soundtrack, no price has been revealed, but that should be revealed relatively soon since it is coming out next month.
