Ever since the Stranger Things Twitter started their #StrangerThursdays tradition, the streaming service has been debuting a new poster every week that pays tribute to a 1980s classic. Today we get the latest poster, which honors the 1985 classic The Goonies, featuring practically all of the major characters returning from the breakout season. While none of these posters reveal any new details of the upcoming season, this Stranger Things Season 2 poster pays tribute to one of the movies that helped inspire this series.

The poster debuted on the official Stranger Things Twitter, which follows the previous posters that pay tribute to Alien, set in the Upside Down, The Running Man featuring Sheriff Hopper (David Harbour), Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) reenacting the poster from A Nightmare on Elm Street, all of the young kids getting together for the Stand By Me one-sheet, Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven portraying Drew Barrymore's title character in Firestarter, Winona Ryder's Joyce Byers re-creating the classic pose from The Evil Dead poster, and last week's poster that honor the 1975 classic Jaws. That poster was the first to go outside of the 1980s for these #StrangerThursdays one-sheets, which will most likely continue until we reach the Friday, October 27 premiere date.

The poster also features the tree entrance to the Upside Down and the bizarre "face" of the Demogorgon, along with all of the main characters. The original Goonies poster this one-sheet is spoofing features all of the kids huddled together, with a pirate skull and the gold treasure this group all sought in the foreground. Since there isn't exactly any "treasure" in Stranger Things, the pirate skull is replaced by a frantic Joyce Byers, staring at a ball of Christmas lights, which she used to communicate with her lost son Will (Noah Schnapp) in the first season, with a worried Eleven looking on. Unfortunately, the folks at Netflix missed a golden opportunity with this poster.

One of the new stars of Stranger Things Season 2 is none other than Sean Astin, who actually starred in The Goonies in his feature film debut, following a handful of TV appearances. Sean Astin will play Bob Newby in Stranger Things Season 2, the manager of the Hawkins, Indiana Radio Shack, who also starts dating Joyce Byers this season. There have been reports that indicate Sheriff Jim Hopper isn't a huge fan of Joyce dating Bob, since he now has feelings for her as well. While we haven't seen Bob Newby show up quite yet, it may have been a bit odd to show him for the first time in this poster, but Goonies fans would have most certainly appreciated it.

Earlier this week, Stranger Things star Joe Keery (Steve Harrington) revealed that his favorite Stranger Things Season 2 guest star was Brett Gelman, who plays a conspiracy theorist who comes to Hawkins investigating a "cold case." There hasn't been any confirmation yet as to how many episodes he shows up in this season, but he certainly did make an impression on the cast. Brett Gelman and Sean Astin are part of a crop of guest stars that also include Paul Reiser as a government official who comes to town to investigate what happened during the first season, Linnea Berthelsen as Roman, a damaged young woman who doesn't actually live in Hawkins, but is connected to the mysterious events of Season 1, and Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery as step-siblings Billy and Max.
