A brand new trailer for Star Wars Resistance season 2 is here. This provides our first real look at this show's sophomore season, which brings the action back to the Colossus with Kaz and the gang. And, in something of a surprise move, it's been revealed by Lucasfilm that this will be the final season of the animated series. Based on this first trailer, the short-lived show set within a galaxy far, far away is going to go out with an action-packed bang.

The trailer kicks off with the Colossus crew trying to avoid the clutches of the First Order. They're now navigating the treachery of space, while running low on supplies. Tensions are high, as are the stakes. We see the First Order's grip strangling planets throughout the galaxy as the crew attempts to find a new home. Much of the footage is full of space battles, chase sequences and epic action. A lot is going on and some familiar faces, such as Captain Phasma and Kylo Ren, even pop in.

One thing this show has going for it is the timeline during which it is set. Much of the content that has been released over the last decade has been focused on the prequel era. This is one of few official, canon projects that takes place during the current trilogy. Season 1 led up to the events of The Force Awakens and it's now firmly in the timeline established in The Last Jedi. Season 2 will presumably lead us closer to the events of The Rise of Skywalker. This series also has a very distinct animation style that helps set itself apart from shows like Rebels, which is on display in the trailer.

The first season centered on Kaz arriving aboard the Colossus and learning the ropes. By the time the season ended, we were already at the events of The Force Awakens and Kaz, along with help, was trying to rid the Colossus of the First Order's presence. Season 2 picks up after a harrowing escape from the First Order, as Kaz and the Colossus crew wind up lost in space, pursued by Agent Tierny and Commander Pyre who have taken Tam Ryvora aboard their ship.

The voice cast includes Christopher Sean (Kazudo Xiono), Suzie McGrath (Tam Ryvora), Scott Lawrence (Jarek Yeager), Myrna Velasco (Torra Doza), Josh Brener (Neeku Vozo), Donald Faison (Hype Fazon), Jim Rash (Flix), Bobby Moynihan (Orka), with Rachel Butera as Princess Leia. New cast members this season include Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike) as Ax Tagrin, Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) as Norath Kev, Matthew Wood (The Clone Wars) as Kylo Ren and Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess) as the Aeosian Queen.

Rebels and The Clone Wars creator Dave Filoni serves as executive producer on the series. Though, he hasn't been quite as involved with this series, as he's been busy working on The Mandalorian as well as a director and executive producer. Lucasfilm will premiere the final season on October 6. Be sure to check out the new trailer from for Star Wars: Resistance season 2 for yourself.
