Star Wars Rebels is gearing up for its grand entrance at Comic-Con 2014 with a panel Q&A and sneak peek footage on Thursday, July 24, which is just two weeks away. But if you can't wait that long to see more from LucasFilm and Disney XD's upcoming animated series, Hero Complex has our first look at a new character, ruthless Rebel Hunter Agent Kallus. He is voiced by actor David Oyelowo (Interstellar; Lee Daniels' the Butler), whom you may remember was rumored to be part of the Star Wars: Episode VII cast. Take a look at Kallus in a new featurette and photo.

Agent Kallus is an evil agent of the Empire and is described as being part FBI agent and part Military Police Officer. Executive producer Dave Filoni explains:

"We definitely wanted to capture that '70s feeling that was so strong in 'Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. Art director Kilian Plunkett and I looked at a lot of reference to try and make that influence fit into Star Wars Rebels. At one point we had [Rebel pilot] Zeb in bell-bottoms. I'm hoping to see some people sporting that look at Comic-Con next year."

About scoring such an accomplished actor as David Oyelowo for Star Wars Rebels, Dave Filoni had this to say:

"We actually had [him] read for several different parts. We knew we wanted to use him, but weren't quite sure where."

It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people. The clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost is amongst a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.

Star Wars Rebels will premiere in the fall as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel. That debut will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.
