Back in October, LucasFilm gave fans their first look at the new Star Wars Rebels villain The Inquisitor. Today, the studio reveals that Jason Isaacs is voicing The Inquisitor with a new behind-the-scenes featurette. LucasFilm Story Group's Pablo Hidalgo explains that, unlike classic villains such as Darth Vader and Darth Maul, The Inquisitor is not a Sith, but he does "tap into the Dark Side."

Executive producers Dave Filoni and Simon Kinberg reveal that this new character went through several different iterations before deciding on his final look, and we also hear from Jason Isaacs, who says that his character's simple task is to find all of the remaining Jedi Knights.

Take a look at this new featurette to learn more about this evil Star Wars Rebels character, then read on for more details from Pablo Hidalgo.

Unlike many animated TV shows in the 1980s, where the villains were defeated every week, Star Wars Rebels' The Inquisitor poses a definite challenge for the show's heroes.

"He's cold, he's analytical, he doesn't get angry. We all took care to make sure our villains have real presence and our heroes just can't walk all over him. This isn't like cartoons I grew up with in the 80s where you'd have the villain lose every week and yet every week we'd have to believe he's some sort of threat. When The Inquisitor shows up, it means something significant and it's a definite challenge for our heroes."

Star Wars Rebels will make its Comic-Con debut with a panel on Thursday, July 24 at 6 PM in Room 6BCF.
