Given the popularity of superhero movies, it isn't hard to imagine that most in-demand actors have at least thought about which comic book character they would like to tackle, given the chance. It turns out that Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has indeed given that idea some thought. As it turns out, the actor feels he would have made a pretty good Spider-Man at one point, but admits that ship has sailed.

Daniel Radcliffe recently spoke with Metro.co.uk while out promoting his latest movie Swiss Army Man. As is often the case with actors in interviews these days, the subject of superheroes came up, and he revealed that he not only wanted to play everyone's favorite wall-crawler, but he feels he would have been pretty good at it. Here is what he had to say.

"I love superhero movies. I would've been a good Spider-Man but the boat has sailed on that and I'm very happy to watch Tom Holland do it. He's fantastic. "

Most of the world seems to share his sentiments about Tom Holland. There was quite a bit of hesitation when it was announced that Andrew Garfield was being replaced and that we were going to be getting our third actor playing Spidey in a live-action movie within ten years. Granted, everyone was excited about the prospect of Peter Parker joining up with The Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Tom Holland wound up being an excellent Spider-Man by most accounts. His appearance in Captain America: Civil War was one of the clear highlights, so even if Daniel Radcliffe desperately wanted to take on the role, he would have to wait awhile, and by then he will have likely aged out of it. Not only that, but the actor also expressed some hesitation about signing on for another lengthy franchise.

"I'm not sure if I'd sign up for something that was another seven or eight films or ten years but a shorter franchise, yeah."

Since the Harry Potter series concluded, which Daniel Radcliffe spent most of his young life working on, he has found a lot of success in smaller, indie movies, be it playing a "farting corpse" in Swiss Army Man, or being a guy with Horns in the movie Horns. He does show up in the occasional big-budget movie these days. Over the summer he had a part in Now You See Me 2 and last year Igor in Victor Frankenstein, which turned out to be something of a bomb, but was at least intended to have mass appeal. But the idea of a superhero movie definitely isn't out of the question entirely.

Given his star power, it would be surprising if Daniel Radcliffe hasn't already been approached at some point to star in a comic book movie. While he might have made a fine Spider-Man at one point, not only has that moment in time passed, but that would require the type of franchise commitment that he seems uninterested in making. However, that does leave plenty of room for him to play a villain as opposed to a hero. Many of the bad guys in these movies are one-and-done, so that is an option. Perhaps he could play Arcade, a villain who uses elaborate traps and games to try and kill his victims, who was at one point an enemy of Spidey and has also squared off against The Avengers in the comics. That is merely a suggestion, but at least we know that the possibility exists for Daniel Radcliffe to appear in a superhero movie at some point, even if he won't ever get to play Peter Parker.
