Krysta Rodriguez (The Virginity Hit) has signed on as a series regular in Season 2 of Smash.

The actress will play Ana, who becomes Karen's (Katharine McPhee) new roommate. The spunky performer is hoping to land her big break in the new production Great White Way.

Other new cast members added this season are Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan, and newcomer Andy Mientus. These new characters will help fill the voids left by Jaime Cepero (Ellis), Raza Jaffrey (Dev), Brian d'Arcy James (Frank), and recurring actor Will Chase (Michael), none of whom are returning for Season 2.

We also reported in April that Joshua Safran (Gossip Girl) stepped in to replace series creator Theresa Rebeck as showrunner.

Smash Season 2 will debut sometime in mid-season on NBC, although a specific premiere date has not been announced.
