Fans who are still reeling from Sherlock's Season 3 finale back in January have a long wait ahead before Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman) return to the small screen. BBC announced in July that production will begin this coming January on a Christmas special airing in late 2015, followed by three new Sherlock Season 4 episodes, presumably airing in early 2016. To help fans cope, BBC One has released a new photo of Holmes and Watson back together again.

The Season 3 finale, "His Last Vow", ended with a cliffhanger that teased the return of Jim Moriarty, played by Andrew Scott. Star Martin Freeman revealed earlier this year, before the Season 4 renewal was announced, that a one-off special is coming. However, we still don't have any plot details for the Christmas special or the new season thus far.

Along with this new image, BBC One also revealed the script cover page for what is being simply called the "Sherlock Special" on the network's official Twitter account. Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss wrote the script, but it isn't clear who is directing at this time. No other cast members have been confirmed at this time, but we'll keep you posted with new details as we get closer to the production start. In the meantime, check out these new images below to prepare yourself for more Sherlock.
